13th CHICAGO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL 1977
I met the director of The Chicago Film Festival socially and he asked me to do a poster for the 13th Chicago Festival. I really loved this sketch, as it utilized the photographic work of Muybridge, which was historically relevant, and I thought the black cat and the number 13 had a mysterious cutting edge to it. Of course, the director hated the idea of “13/bad luck.” The client is always right, I must admit in the end. But sometimes I would get stubborn — this just looked like a wonderful poster! But he would have no part of it.
