RAVI SHANKAR: Fillmore East Theater 1968
I wish I had known something about typography when I was doing these posters, but they were coming too fast for me to learn enough to do better than I was doing at the time. I feel I spent most of my time learning on the job, and I guess I was doing something right since I kept getting jobs. I see now that I kept things simple so as not to be overwhelmed technically. I wanted to be serene in this poster, but I needed to be more graphically imaginative. I would in time learn to be less timid and more daring.
Black Ink, Presstype, Letrafilm on white board.
